The Family Support team provide emotional, psychological, and spiritual support to patients and those closest to them. The team support patients aged 18 and over who are living with a life-limiting illness, and extends to a patient’s close care network, including children aged 5-18.
Our team of experienced counsellors, including those in training, are dedicated to addressing emotional needs through individual counselling sessions, closed therapeutic groups and open drop-in sessions.
We offer a compassionate, non-judgmental listening ear in a confidential and psychologically safe environment. Our supportive sessions give individuals the opportunity for sharing and reflection, accommodating everyone’s unique needs.
We recognise and value everyone as whole individuals deserving tailored care, and our goal is to empower them to access the most appropriate support when they need it. Our sessions give patients and those closest to them the opportunity to explore and reflect on what is important to them as they live with a life-limiting illness.

We also offer a range of compassionate Family Support services to help individuals through challenging times. Bereavement support includes one-to-one counselling, therapeutic groups, and chaplaincy for those grieving the loss of a loved one. Our spiritual support team provides inclusive, multi-faith and non-faith guidance, with a welcoming space for reflection and remembrance. For those caring for individuals with advanced dementia, dedicated counselling and support groups are available, including the Dementia Carers Support Group and the After Dementia Café, which helps recently bereaved caregivers navigate their grief.
