The afternoon is all about music, crafts, food, friends and laughter, as well as making new connections and enjoying life.

Held on the second and fourth Friday of every month, there’s something different at every Cafe, whether we have a singer to keep you entertained or get you up dancing, a quiz or crafts to break the ice and get you chatting.

We love to see you whether you’re a carer or living with dementia yourself.

OUR DEMENTIA CAFE VOLUNTEERS

Pam:

“I had a long career in the NHS and the charity sector and I felt like I had lots still to offer when I retired. Dementia has always been my preferred area of work and I’ve really enjoyed working with the Dementia Support team at Willow Wood. I love helping to organise and run the Dementia Café, I want to support the people who come to it.”

John:

“Before Covid I used to be a volunteer driver for the Hospice and, after that, I was looking for something else to do. Pam suggested coming along to the Dementia Café and I’ve loved helping out. I’m a people’s person and I enjoy speaking to the people who come.”

Jayne:

“I used to bring my dad to the Dementia Café and I now want to give something back. Volunteering at the Café is so rewarding and it’s a joy to see how much the people who come enjoy music.”

Sylvia:

“I’ve been volunteering for 23 years at the Hospice and have helped out at the Dementia Café for the last three years. I enjoy helping people and being part of the Willow Wood family.”

Alison:

“Willow Wood means a lot to me and I want to give something back to the Hospice which has helped me and my mum. I want to use my skills and experiences as a carer to help support other carers.”
