Butterfly Memory Appeal

When someone you love is no longer here, the memories don’t go anywhere. They’re in the everyday moments, the small reminders, the stories you still tell.

Our Butterfly Memory Appeal at Willow Wood Hospice is a simple way to honour that love.

By making a donation towards patient care, you will be dedicating a butterfly in your loved one’s name – whether they have received care at the Hospice or not.

We will release it in their memory – a quiet, meaningful tribute that keeps their name and their story alive. Their name will be written in our Butterfly Memory Book, and we’ll also send you a personalised dedication card to keep.

Your gift will help local patients and families receive the care and support they need, when they need it most.

Dedicate a butterfly. Remember someone special. Help care for others in their name.

Butterfly Memory Release Event

We’re truly grateful for the overwhelming support for our Butterfly Memory Release event on Saturday 18th July – all three release times are now fully booked.

If you weren’t able to book a slot, you can still make a donation to our appeal in memory of a loved one by filling in the form below. Our team will lovingly release a butterfly on your behalf, and you will still receive a beautiful certificate to honour your dedication.

This celebration of remembrance is a beautiful, symbolic moment of reflection and tribute, and an opportunity to view our Butterfly Memory Book.

Our gardens will be open throughout the day, giving you and your guests plenty of opportunity to explore, browse our stalls and enjoy refreshments in the hospice café and bar.

On the day we recommend arriving 30 minutes before your release time. Butterflies can only be released in dry weather, so event timings may be subject to change. Stay updated via our social media channels, including Facebook and Instagram.

Please remember to bring your enclosed vouchers on the day so they can be exchanged for live butterflies. You will have received one voucher for each dedication.

Parking at Willow Wood Hospice is restricted to patients, families, Blue Badge holders and our workforce. The area immediately surrounding the Hospice (Willow Wood Close and Mellor Road) is Residence Parking only. However, we are ideally situated just a few minutes’ walk from Darnton Road Pay and Display car park. We ask that you are respectful of where you park. Thank you.

Please note: If you make your dedication after Friday 10th July 2026, it may not be included in our Butterfly Memory Book.
